Dr. Andrea Schuessler studied chemistry with an emphasis on pharmaceutical chemistry and biochemistry at the Philipps University of Marburg, Germany. She graduated with her diploma in 1987 and completed her Dr. rer. nat. in 1990 with a thesis in the field of molecular biology. Between 1990 and 1993 she trained to become a patent attorney in the Munich patent law firm Bardehle & Partner. After completing her training at the German Patent and Trademark Office, the German Federal Patent Court and the Munich District Civil Court (Patent Division) she qualified as a German Patent Attorney in 1994. She passed the European Qualifying Exam in 1995. In 1996 Dr. Schuessler founded the patent law firm Huber & Schuessler together with Dr. Bernard Huber in Munich.

Dr. Schuessler ́s current practice involves work in the field of patent prosecution, oppositions and nullity suits before the German Patent & Trademark Office, the European Patent Office and the German Federal Patent Court. She also advises her domestic and foreign clients on licensing and due diligence issues. As well she is the author of numerous articles relating to the patenting of chemical and biotechnological inventions. Her technical specialty is in the fields of organic and pharmaceutical chemistry and biotechnology, e.g. immunology, molecular genetics and cancer research.
